In the post-Grenfell word of fire safety, the role of fire doors has been re-emphasiesed, along with their maintenance.

We, in our role of "competent person", carry out fire door checks as part of a building's fire risk assessment.

In between times, it's often necessary for a member of staff to carry out basic maintenance checks on the common and obvious faults that can arise on a day-to-day basis.
